Freight Market News for the upcoming October

The Golden week holidays is upcoming since 01st Oct to 08th Oct, total 8 days. Currently, the freight on the market have significantly decreased.

This is because the shipowners began to stockpile goods for the Golden Week in advance. During this period, the shortage of containers and the phenomenon of continuous container dumping will occur more frequently.

Meanwhile, in response to the 8-day long holiday period, the shipowners have once again taken several blank shipping routes to reduce inventory and slow down the decline in freight rates.

Below details of routes’ adjustments:

1. CAT Service: There’s one week blank sailing.

2. CA2 Service: There’s one week blank sailing

3. MSC(PANDA)|ZIM(ZAX) Service:  This service rarely suspends operations. During this Golden Week, there’s also one week blank sailing.

4. MAERSK(DRAGON)|ONE(AUN) Service:  This service rarely suspends operations. During this Golden Week, there’s also one week blank sailing.

5. A1X Service: There’s one week blank sailing.

6. A3C Service: There’s one week blank sailing.

7. A3S Service: There’s one week blank sailing.

Based on the above information, multiple blank voyages will reduce the demand for stockpiling by shipping companies before the holiday.

The goods collected by shipping companies at the end of the month can better cope with the remaining capacity, and there will be excess cargo allocated to the ships in the second week of October.

Under such circumstances, we predict that the shipping rates for vessels in the second week of October may experience a slight increase and tight space for fresh booking after the holiday.

Furthermore, the shipowner will attempt to implement the GRI after October 15th. Of course, whether this will succeed still depends on the actual cargo volume in the market.
